Mount Tokai Hoji-in Onikotsuji Temple
Origin
Emperor Saga's reign, 2nd year of the Kōnin era (811) It was founded by Kobo Daishi "Kukai".
Long ago, the area was called Onino, but it was about 6km from the coast of the Harima Nada Sea, deep in the mountains, there was a place known as "Oni no Iwaya" (Demon's Cave), where four demons, including parents and their children, lived.
Honen Shonin, the founder of the Jodo sect, "Genku", teaches the precepts to the court ladies of the retired emperor at the time, "Matsumushi" and "Suzumushi".
And because he had made them nuns, he was exiled to Kochi Prefecture in Tosa Province as punishment. (First year of Shogen...1207) Honen Shonin At age 75
During this time, they stopped off in Kagawa Prefecture in the Sanuki Province, and while they were on a small boat off the coast of the Harima Nada Sea, the demon's parents happened to fall ill and were in trouble. As they could not be cured no matter what they did, the child demon asked for help from Honen Shonin. The shonin bestowed upon them the "Art of Longevity" (chanting Namu Amida Butsu) and explained the principle of inevitability of cause and effect.
The child demon hurried back to the "Demon's Cave" where his parents were suffering and chanted the "Longevity Technique" with all his might.
After completing his sins, the monk (Genku) visited the area offshore again on his way home, and noticed purple clouds hanging over the "Oni no Iwaya." Thinking this was strange, the monk sent his disciples to the area, where they found the ogre father and son, who had repented for having come into the village and often harmed people, and had committed suicide by smashing their heads against a rock. He then brought back their remains and buried them where Yakushido now stands.
Later, Ogasawara Yoshiaki, the governor of Awa Province, rebuilt the dilapidated temple using three hectares of rice paddy land to pray for the repose of the demons' souls and gave them a respectful burial.
Since then, the temple name has been changed to Yakushiji"Demon Bone Temple"It came to be called.

Katsuragi Shrine, the god of "eyes"
Katsuragi Shrine is famous in Naruto City as the "God of Eyes." The origin of the "God of Eyes" is When the the thirty-ninth Emperor Tenji toured Kyushu by boat, Hitokoto-no-nushi accompanied him, stopping off at the beach at Awata (where Katsuragi Shrine is located) along the way. One day, while heading upstream to fish for carp and crucian carp, his horse stumbled in a bamboo stump and Hitokoto-no-nushi fell from his horse. Hitokoto-no-nushi struck his eye on a bamboo stump, causing eye problems. He remained alone in Awata to recuperate. One day, after washing his eyes with well water and medicinal herbs, his eyesight was cured. Delighted, Hitokoto-no-nushi never forgot his own suffering from eye disease and vowed to protect those suffering from it through a festival at Katsuragi Shrine in Tokushima. Since then, no male bamboo or bamboo grows in the parish area, and the shrine has become known as the "God of Eyes of Naruto" due to the many worshippers who say, "I prayed at Katsuragi Shrine and my eyes were cured."
